
A five minute's drive North of Star Rentals, Garner State Park is truly one of the greatest wonders of Natural Texas beauty. It is is 1419.8 acres (10 water acres of the Frio River) of preserved and untouched local flora and fauna. It is open 7 days a week and also has a dance every night for teenagers. Garner State Park was acquired in 1934-36 and was named for John Nance Garner (Cactus Jack) of Uvalde, who served as Vice-President of the United States from 1933-41
Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area

Formerly part of the Whitworth Ranch, is a 1859.7-acre area located approximately six miles northeast of Rocksprings in Edwards County. It was acquired in 1985 and was opened to limited access in 1992. The Sinkhole property does not front a public roadway. Access to the park can be obtained only by contacting Kickapoo Cavern State Park to prearrange a tour. Access into the Sinkhole is prohibited. A per person fee is charged for participation in prearranged tours. Call Kickapoo Cavern for information on tour dates and fees.
Located along the Sabinal River in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, 2,208-acre Lost Maples State Natural Area Designated as a National Natural Landmark, and contains the state's largest stand of bigtooth maples east of the Guadalupe Mountains.
